Class Descriptions

Hatha yoga

Moving through a combination of conscious breathing and series of poses, this class will build strength, promote flexibility (in body and mind), corrects the body’s alignment and create a sense of well-being. This is a perfect style for all, from beginners to athletes looking to supplement and balance their daily workouts, to the seasoned practitioner to deepen body awareness. Iyengar taught us to emphasize precise alignment in each pose, so the use of supports such as blocks, straps, blankets, and bolsters will be instructed. Most important is that you listen to your body and take this time to deepen your connection to self.

Hatha Yoga  Mornings, AM classes are a little more lively, sun salutations, functional and dynamic movement to get you moving smoothly throughout your day.

Hatha Yoga Evenings,  PM Classes will help ease the stress and tension built up throughout your day. This is your wind down class to let the day go and get a good nights sleep. 

Rise and Shine Yoga

 

This class is a perfect way to start your day designed to wake up your body, mind and soul.  Accessible for all. Sun Salutations, Dynamic movement, Agni Sara (abdominal squeeze, stimulates digestion and our fire within) and breath work to get you up and get you out the door feeling amazing. 

Restorative Yoga

Restorative yoga is an ideal balance to hectic and stressful modern lifestyles. Perfect for  when you feel Stressed, weak, or fatigued from your daily life. With its roots in in Iyengar yoga, he developed a practice that allows students to practice without any strain or pain. It is also designed to restore the nervous system and help release deeply held tensions from the body and the mind. You can practice the poses when not feeling so great and while injured.The use of props to support the postures, while gently stretching, relieving and reviving the body. Restorative yoga is appropriate for all levels of practice, and a must for keeping balance in our high paced society. Accessible for all.

Karma Class

This is a Hatha Yoga based class with a suggested donation of $5, $10 or $15. The money received from this class goes back into the community through various organizations. 

Move, relax and meditate

Move, Relax and Meditate, We will begin with some poses to unwind and work out the days stresses. Then we will move on to teach you the art of relaxation. Pranayama (breath work) practices to calm the mind,  and systematic relaxation practices like 61 points and point to point. Then to help the mind settle even more we will end with a guided meditation. No experience is required, This class will have gentle and minimal movement. 

Gentle Yoga

A calming yoga class structured around rejuvenating and healing the body. Asanas are practiced at a slower pace with attention to alignment, stretching and strengthen all areas of the body, while releasing stress and tension from joints and muscles. Great for all levels looking for a soothing, relaxing class. Wonderful for  those newer to yoga or working with special concerns or injuries. Accessible for all.

Long hold Hatha and NIdra

During the first half of this class we will Move through and hold poses to calm the mind and body.  Moving into the second half we will move through a Yoga Nidra practice. What is Yoga Nidra? Yoga Nidra is a powerful meditation and relaxation practice that is intended to induce total physical, mental, and emotional relaxation. You deserve this!

Yoga Nidra

Yoga nidra, or yogic sleep, is a powerful meditation and relaxation practice that is intended to induce total physical, mental, and emotional relaxation. It is one of the easiest yoga practices to maintain. Resting comfortably in savasana, this systematic meditation takes you through the five layers of self, leaving you with a sense of wholeness. Benefits of yoga nidra are, anybody can do it. It’s an easy way to reduce stress. You cannot do it incorrectly.  Accessible for All

Yin Yoga

Yin Yoga is a perfect complement to the dynamic and muscular (yang) styles of yoga that emphasize internal heat, and the lengthening and contracting of our muscles. Yin Yoga generally targets the connective tissues of the hips, pelvis, and lower spine.Yin Yoga directly addresses the demands that sitting still in one position for a long time places on the body by focusing on stretching connective tissue instead of muscle.Yin Yoga is for you if you are tired, over-stimulated, when your energy is too erratic, your mind overactive, whether you are craving for energy or you feel you have too much of it. it's a good idea to balance all the on-the-go aspects of life and a great way to do that is through Yin Yoga. Accessible for all.
