Ayurvedic Assessment and Coaching

Wellness isn't one-size-fits-all.

Ayurvedic Assessments & Coaching

You can eat the “right” foods, follow the latest wellness advice, exercise regularly, and still feel like something just isn’t quite working.

Ayurveda begins from a different place:

What does your body need, at this point in your life?

Ayurvedic health coaching looks at the whole picture: digestion, energy, sleep, daily routines, movement, stress, food choices, lifestyle, environment, season of life, and the patterns that make you uniquely you.

Together, we use that information to create realistic, personalized changes that support greater balance and help you feel better in your everyday life.

No extreme cleanses. No impossible routines. No expectation that you're going to completely reorganize your life around Ayurveda.

Just thoughtful, individualized guidance you can actually use.

What Is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda is a traditional system of health and well-being that originated in India thousands of years ago and developed alongside yoga. The word Ayurveda is often translated as “the knowledge” or “science of life.

At its heart, Ayurveda recognizes something modern wellness sometimes forgets:

People are different.

We have different constitutions, tendencies, environments, stages of life, and responses to food, exercise, stress, sleep, weather, schedules, and change. That means the same routine isn't appropriate for everyone.

Ayurveda helps us look for patterns and ask:

  • What tends to bring you into balance?

  • What tends to throw you out of balance?

  • How are you digesting not only food, but the demands of everyday life?

  • What habits support you?

  • Where might a few small changes make things easier?

The goal isn't perfection. The goal is learning how to better understand yourself and make choices that support your health over time.

It's More Than Knowing Your Dosha

If you've encountered Ayurveda before, you've probably heard about Vata, Pitta, and Kapha.

They matter, but Ayurveda is much more than taking an online quiz and being told you're a Pitta.

Your Ayurvedic constitution describes your natural tendencies, but we also look at what is happening right now.

Your sleep may have changed.

Your digestion may have changed.

Your schedule may have changed.

You may be moving through menopause, retirement, a demanding season at work, caregiving, recovery from an injury, or simply a different stage of life than you were ten years ago.

Ayurvedic assessment considers both your underlying constitution and your current state of balance.

Because what worked beautifully for you five years ago may not be what you need today.

What Do We Look At During an Ayurvedic Assessment?

An Ayurvedic assessment is an opportunity for us to take a broad look at your health and daily life, rather than focusing on a single isolated symptom. Depending on your goals, we may explore areas such as:

  • Digestion and appetite

  • Energy throughout the day

  • Sleep

  • Daily routines and schedule

  • Food habits

  • Movement and exercise

  • Stress and recovery

  • Elimination

  • Seasonal changes

  • Work and home demands

  • Lifestyle patterns

  • Your natural constitution and current imbalances

  • Your current stage of life

We are looking for patterns and relationships. Sometimes the most useful change isn't adding another supplement, workout, or complicated wellness practice. It may be changing when you eat breakfast. Adjusting the type of exercise you're doing. Creating a more consistent evening routine. Changing how meals are put together. Building more recovery into your week. Or simply understanding why your body seems to respond differently than someone else's.

What Happens at Your Initial Assessment?

Your first Ayurvedic assessment is intentionally thorough.

We'll talk about what brought you in, what you're currently experiencing, what your days actually look like, and what you would most like to improve. From there, we'll begin identifying patterns through an Ayurvedic lens.

You'll leave with personalized recommendations that may include changes related to:

Food
Not a rigid meal plan or a list of forbidden foods, but practical guidance based on your digestion, constitution, current needs, season, and lifestyle.

Daily routines
Small changes to the rhythm of your day can have a surprisingly large impact.

Sleep and recovery
We can explore routines and habits that may better support rest and restoration.

Movement
Yoga, strength training, walking, mobility work, cardiovascular exercise, and rest: different bodies and different seasons of life may need different combinations.

Ayurvedic self-care practices
When appropriate, we may incorporate simple traditional practices that fit comfortably into your day.

Lifestyle habits
We look for changes that are meaningful enough to help but realistic enough that you're actually going to do them.

You will not leave with a seventeen-page list of everything you are suddenly supposed to change on Monday morning. We prioritize. Usually, a few well-chosen changes practiced consistently are far more useful than trying to overhaul your entire life at once.

Assessment vs. Coaching

You are welcome to schedule an Ayurvedic assessment as a stand-alone service. For some people, one assessment and a clear set of recommendations is exactly what they need. Others benefit from ongoing Ayurvedic health coaching.

Ayurvedic Assessment

A good place to start if you want to:

  • Better understand your Ayurvedic constitution

  • Explore current patterns or imbalances

  • Get individualized food and lifestyle recommendations

  • Learn how Ayurveda may apply to your particular needs

  • Develop a practical starting plan

  •

Ayurvedic Health Coaching

Coaching allows us to continue the process over time. We'll look at what's working, what isn't, what has changed, and what needs adjusting. Because real life happens. Schedules change. Seasons change. Bodies change. Motivation changes. And sometimes the recommendation that sounded completely reasonable during an appointment turns out to be completely unreasonable once Tuesday happens. Coaching gives us the opportunity to adapt instead of assuming you somehow “failed” the plan.

The plan should work for your life, not the other way around.

Ayurveda for Real Life

You do not need to:

  • Become vegetarian

  • Give up everything you enjoy eating

  • Cook elaborate Ayurvedic meals

  • Wake up at 4:30 in the morning

  • Buy a cabinet full of herbs and supplements

  • Know anything about Ayurveda before you arrive

  • Pronounce Sanskrit

  • Completely change your lifestyle

And you absolutely do not need to be “good at wellness.” My job is to help you understand the principles and decide which ones are actually useful for you.

Who Is Ayurvedic Coaching For?

Ayurvedic assessment and coaching may be helpful if you're interested in taking a more individualized approach to your health and well-being.

It can be especially valuable when you find yourself thinking: “I know what I'm supposed to do. I just can't seem to make it work consistently.” or I'm doing all the healthy things. Why don't I feel better?”

or even

“There is so much wellness advice out there that I have no idea what actually applies to me.” Ayurveda gives us a framework for sorting through some of that noise. Rather than chasing every new health trend, we start paying attention to your patterns, your needs, and your life.

My Approach

My approach to Ayurveda is practical, individualized, and grounded in the reality that most of us have jobs, families, responsibilities, preferences, budgets, social lives, and absolutely no desire to turn health into another full-time job. I am an Ayurvedic Health Counselor, Yoga Therapist, personal trainer, and health coach. That combination allows me to look at health from several different perspectives while keeping the focus on you as a whole person. Sometimes Ayurveda is the primary approach.

Sometimes we may recognize that strength training, mobility, yoga therapy, stress management, behavioral change, or another type of support also belongs in the conversation. There is no single formulaThe goal is to help you build a sustainable, adaptable, and appropriate way of caring for yourself that fits your actual life.

Ayurveda Changes With You

One of the things I love most about Ayurveda is that it isn't static. What supports you in January may not be exactly what supports you in July. What you needed at 35 may be different from what you need at 55 or 75. A stressful month may require something different from a quiet one.

A period of intense training may require something different from recovery. Ayurveda teaches us to notice those changes and respond rather than assuming there is one perfect routine we're supposed to follow forever. That's part of the practice.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to know my dosha before my appointment?

No. In fact, I'd rather we explore your constitution together than have you worry about getting the “right” answer on an online quiz.

Is Ayurveda a diet?

No. Food is an important part of Ayurveda because we eat every day, but Ayurveda is much broader than food. Sleep, movement, daily rhythms, environment, stress, digestion, season, and lifestyle all matter.

Are you going to give me a huge list of foods I can't eat?

No. Recommendations should make your life more workable, not more stressful. We may discuss foods that appear to support you particularly well or things you might experiment with changing, but the emphasis is on building awareness and making practical choices, not creating a complicated list of dietary rules.

Do I have to change everything at once?

Definitely not. In most cases, I would rather see you make one or two meaningful changes consistently than enthusiastically attempt fifteen changes for four days and then abandon the whole thing.

We build from there.

Is Ayurveda a replacement for medical care?

No. Ayurvedic health coaching is educational and supportive and does not replace diagnosis, treatment, or care from your physician or other licensed healthcare providers. When something belongs with your medical provider, that's where it belongs. Ayurveda can be part of your larger approach to wellbeing while working alongside appropriate medical care.

Can Ayurveda be combined with yoga therapy or personal training?

Absolutely. For clients who would benefit from a broader approach, Ayurvedic principles may also be incorporated into Yoga Therapy, Personal Training, Health Coaching, or Satya Yoga's integrated wellness services.

Not everyone needs every service. We'll use what is useful.

You Don't Need Another Perfect Wellness Plan.

You need something that makes sense for you.

Ayurveda offers a way to understand your patterns, recognize what may be pulling you out of balance, and make thoughtful changes that support the way you want to feel and live.

If you're curious, you don't need to know anything about Ayurveda before we begin. That's what the assessment is for. Come as you are. We'll start there.
