Beyond the Pose

Ancient Wisdom for Everyday Life

June 4–6, 2027 | Himalayan Institute • Honesdale, Pennsylvania

A weekend to explore, learn, rest, and reconnect.

Step away from the usual pace of life and spend a weekend surrounded by nature, meaningful practice, good conversation, and enough space to simply be.

Beyond the Poses is a weekend retreat exploring the deeper teachings of yoga in an approachable, practical, and relevant way for everyday life.

Yes, we’ll learn.

But we’ll also move, breathe, meditate, walk through the beautiful Himalayan Institute grounds, drink chai, eat cookies, laugh, rest, connect, and leave room for you to enjoy being away.

This is not a weekend of sitting through lectures with your nose buried in a notebook. It is an invitation to experience yoga as a practice for living.

Space is intentionally limited to 20 participants.

Retreat Tuition

Early Bird — $220 through January 31, 2027
Regular Registration — $250 beginning February 1, 2027

Accommodations are reserved and paid for separately through the Himalayan Institute.

Yoga Is More Than What Happens on the Mat

Most of us first meet yoga through movement.

But the physical practice is only one part of a much larger tradition, one that offers practical tools for understanding the mind, navigating change, making wise choices, caring deeply without carrying everything, and creating a steadier relationship with ourselves and our lives.

And Yes… This Is Still a Retreat

There will be meaningful teaching and practice throughout the weekend, but there will also be plenty of room to enjoy where we are. You are not coming all the way to the Himalayan Institute to sit in a classroom every waking minute.

Your Retreat Weekend Will Include:

  • Accessible yoga and gentle movement practices

  • Pranayama and breath awareness

  • Systematic relaxation and guided meditation

  • Mantra presented in an approachable, no-pressure way

  • Practical teachings, journaling, reflection, and experiential exercises

  • Optional 6:30 a.m. leisurely group walks around the Himalayan Institute grounds

  • A relaxed Saturday afternoon chai and cookie gathering

  • Time to wander the campus, rest, read, sit outside, enjoy a cup of tea, connect with others — or do absolutely nothing for a little while

  • Opportunities to schedule optional wellness experiences through PureRejuv, including services such as massage or biofeedback, based on availability and at an additional cost.

About Those 6:30 a.m. Walks…

They are just that, walks.

No fitness pace.
No mileage goal.
No workout.

Just an opportunity to step outside while the campus is quiet, enjoy the morning air and surroundings, move a little, and begin the day together.

And they are completely optional.

Want to walk with us? Come along.

Want to sleep another hour? Please do.

Want to find a quiet spot with coffee and stare at the pond?

That counts too.

This weekend is not about filling every available minute.

It is about creating enough space to listen, notice, learn, rest, and reconnect.

Your Home for the Weekend

The Himalayan Institute in Honesdale, Pennsylvania, gives us the perfect setting to step away from everyday routines for a few days.

Surrounded by nature, walking paths, quiet spaces, and room to breathe, the campus allows the retreat to extend far beyond our scheduled sessions.

Walk the grounds.

Sit by the water.

Visit the Sri Vidya Shrine.

Have tea.

Read.

Rest.

Talk with someone new.

Explore the campus.

Or simply enjoy not having anywhere else you need to be for a little while.

Accommodations, Meals & Your Stay

Retreat tuition and accommodations are booked separately.

Your retreat registration is completed through Satya Yoga.

Your accommodations are selected, reserved, and paid for directly through the Himalayan Institute.

And there is an important thing to understand when comparing accommodation rates:

Your accommodation includes much more than a room for the night.

Your stay at the Himalayan Institute includes:

  • Your lodging

  • Three nourishing vegetarian meals each day

  • Access to the Institute’s 24-hour Tea Lounge with unlimited hot tea

  • Complimentary Himalayan Institute yoga classes offered during your stay, as scheduling allows

  • Access to the Institute’s grounds, walking trails, common spaces, and guest amenities

  • Access to the Sri Vidya Shrine for meditation and quiet reflection

So when you see an accommodation rate, you are not paying for a room and then budgeting separately for breakfast, lunch, and dinner throughout the weekend. Your room and three daily meals are part of your stay. That means that once you arrive, a large part of the planning will already be taken care of.

Eat.

Practice.

Walk.

Rest.

Have tea.

Repeat as desired.

Choose the Stay That Works for You

The Himalayan Institute offers several accommodation styles at different price points.

Depending on availability, options may include:

  • Shared guest rooms

  • Private guest rooms

  • Upgraded room options

  • Guest-house accommodations for friends or groups traveling together

  • Small cottages

You can decide whether you would rather keep the weekend simple and economical, share accommodations with someone you know, or treat yourself to a private space. Accommodation availability and rates are managed directly by the Himalayan Institute. Once our Institute event page is live, you’ll be able to view current room choices, pricing, and availability and reserve the option that works best for you.

A Little Time to Explore

The Himalayan Institute campus has plenty to enjoy when we are not together for retreat sessions.

Spend some time in the 24-hour Tea Lounge.

Stop by the Himalayan Café for chai, coffee, and something delicious.

Visit MOKA Origins and explore their coffee and chocolate.

Browse the Sacred Grove Boutique & Bookstore for books, gifts, yoga items, and perhaps the thing you had absolutely no intention of buying until you saw it.

Take a walk.

Find a chair outside.

Visit the Shrine.

Read.

Talk.

Nap.

Your free time belongs to you.

You do not have to make every moment productive just because you came on retreat.

Massage Oil Pouring

Want a Little Extra Rest & Restoration?

You may also choose to explore services offered by the PureRejuv Wellness Center at the Himalayan Institute. Depending on availability, optional experiences may include services such as:

Massage

Biofeedback

Ayurvedic Treatments

These services are completely optional, scheduled separately through PureRejuv, and are not included in retreat tuition or accommodations.

Maybe you spend your free time walking.

Maybe you take a nap.

Maybe you book a massage.

Excellent decision.

There is no prize for having the fullest schedule.

Choose what feels restorative to you.
